WCL ELSA Team Selected

Three weeks ago members of the WTO Moot Team conducted their final moot presentation and brief submission.  The team, student mentors, and coaches worked for the better part of the semester to put together these materials and make them ready for the international competition.  The ELSA (European Law Students Association) conducts a WTO Moot every year on a variety of trade related topics.  This year's topic has been focused on the tricky subject of currency manipulation and the trade imbalances it can create. WCL has been well represented in the past and we hope this year to come back with a win!

The regional competition will be held in the spring at WCL as part of our outstanding trade law program.

The Final Team Members selected were:
Thomas Kirby
Christine Casaceli
Heng Loke
Lindsay Heebner

Congratulations to the Final Team!  We wish them the best of luck in the coming months of preparation and at the Moot!
The Holidays may be over by January 10, 2013, but the WCL-ITILS and WITA are hoping to carry the holiday cheer over to the new year.  On the evening of January 10th, WITA (the Washington International Trade Association) will be hosting their festive holiday party.  Information is here:  http://www.wita.org/en/cev/1488
The party will be at the Dupont Circle Hotel, and all ITILS members are welcome to join.  If you're not a member, send an email to myitils@gmail.com, and we'll try to get you in as a guest of one of the members.  This is a great opportunity to meet with leaders in the field of international trade law in the Washington area.  The event is no charge to student members and their guests, but please register early.  If you have questions concerning the specific event, please contact:

Great Investment Networking Event

Wednesday, November 28, 2012, ITILS will be participating in the International Investment and Development Committee of the ABA’s Section of International Law Networking Event  put on by Fulbright and Jaworski LLP.  THis could be one of the last events put on by this leading firm (See http://abovethelaw.com/2012/02/law-firm-merger-mania-fulbright-and-pillsbury-are-talking/).  We are looking forward to meeting with some of the leaders of International Investment and Development and spreading the good word and great work that the ITILS is known for.
The International Trade and Investment Law Society (ITILS) is a group of students at American University's Washington College of Law (WCL) interested in the field of trade and international investment.  The society has been active in helping sponsor talks and seminars on trade and cross border investments at WCL for several years.  This blog will help showcase these programs and make a more visible communication with trade practitioners and those interested in becoming involved in and understanding the world of trade and investments.  The ITILS also helps to sponsor a team of students to participate in a WTO Moot Competition sponsored and developed by the European Law Students Association (ELSA) each year.
